Before the racing starts, the fun and excitement is already in full-swing at the Tour of Hearts Bicycle and Health Expo (PDF). It’s a fun, exciting and educational event that serves as the kick-off party for the Amgen Tour of California Bicycle Race in Clovis California.
The outdoor festival features attractions for people of all ages and lifestyles. From extreme mountain bike enthusiasts to the occasional cruiser, from long-distance road racers to casual spectators, the Tour of Hearts includes plenty of exciting things to do, see, and experience all day long.
Industry-leading cycling manufacturers and local bike retailers will be showcasing the latest innovations in road, mountain and recreational cycling for the public. Manufacturers including Specialized, Trek, Giant Bicycles, Shimano and Kenda will be exhibiting bicycles and merchandise throughout the day.
Bring your bikes. Steven’s Bicycle Shop, Rubber Soul, Herb Bauer Bicycle Shop and Tri Sport will all hold bike clinics to make sure your ride is in top mechanical shape. The Clovis Police Department will hold a Bicycle Safety course. Riders under 12-years-old can participate in the Bicycle Rodeo and possibly take home one of several trophies for their speed, ability and bicycle knowledge.
The Roll-A-Palooza Stationary Bike Race starts at noon. Sign up for your chance to win two free tickets to the VIP area at the finish line of the Amgen Tour of California’s Stage 4 Finish in Old Town Clovis. A $5 entry fee is all it takes! Each bike is connected to a wattage meter. Generate the most power in a five-minute ride and take home the prize!
Sign up to win a new bike and up to $200 in cash! The Ride a Trike, Win a Bike contests pits you against everyone else. Whether you are two-years-old or 92-years-old, you are eligible. For a $5 entry fee, you will be able to ride a tricycle through an obstacle course in the shortest time possible. But, there’s one catch. If your feet touch the ground, you’re disqualified! At the end of the day, one winner will be crowned the “Greatest Trike Rider in Clovis.” They will also take home a brand new bike and some cold, hard cash.
You, your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers are all invited to start the day at 10:00am for the Family Fun Ride and Bike-A-Thon. The 13-Mile ride starts and ends at Sierra Vista Mall. Along the way, you’ll get to discover the beautiful bike trails of Clovis and ride along a portion of the same route that Lance Armstrong and some of the other top cyclists in the world will conquer as they battle to be crowned the winner of the Amgen Tour of California Stage 4. Other attractions include extreme bike demos, health and wellness booths, food, contests, live music, free dental screening, vision screening, autism screening, audio testing, nutritional and nutritional program information, an outreach effort to connect families and children that are eligible for state-funded programs but are not enrolled, diabetes screening, and childhood obesity testing and information.
